Today I have the all new Glisten & Glow 1950s Nostalgia Collection to show you.
I may not have been alive in the 1950s, not even close, but I can definitely appreciate that decade! When I think of this time I think of poodle skirts and Rock n’ Roll. Elvis Presley made his mark on the world. I Love Lucy premiered on CBS. Grace Kelly became a Princess. Baby Boomers were born. Alaska and Hawaii became states. Credit cards were invented. Whether we were alive yet or not, the 1950s influenced our lives and still does today. Grab your Glisten & Glow 1950s Nostalgia Collection on August 31st at 9am EST. Individually they will be $8.50 but the whole collection can be yours for $40
GLISTEN & GLOW 1950s NOSTALGIA COLLECTION
All five of these polishes watermarble and stamp. They are all cremes and one has a light dusting of shimmers. The entire set all applied like a dream with zero issues at all. I used two coats for all of them and the swatches shown below do not include top coat. They are just that shiny!
DOO-WOP & DRIVE-INS
“Doo-Wop & Drive-Ins” is a peachy pink crème.
Drive-in movies peaked in popularity in the late 50s. I remember in the late 1980s going to see ‘Harry & the Henderson’s’ at the drive-in. There used to be a drive-in theater not far from our house. Now we have to travel an hour or so to get to one. Doo-wop music became more mainstream in the 50s and off the top of my head I can think of The Platters and ‘In The Still of The Night’ by The Five Satins.
JUKEBOX & JITTERBUG
“Jukebox & Jitterbug” is a light minty green crème. I’m not sure if it is my skin tone or my lighting but this one leaned a bit yellow on me and not just in photos.
Jukeboxes used to be every where! I know I have spent quite a bit of my parents money playing music in restaurants and bowling alleys. The Jitterbug is a dance that gained popularity in the 50s. I have no clue how to do it!
HAND JIVE & HULA HOOPS
“Hand Jive & Hula Hoops” is a light mauve leaning purple crème.
If you have ever watched Grease then you probably know the Hand Jive. I can hand jive with the best of them. 😉 Hula Hoops have recently made a come back with girls doing it more as a show than just for fun. My cousin is very talented and can do just about anything with a hula hoop. She even lights them on fire for more entertainment.
SADDLE SHOES & SOCK HOPS
“Saddle Shoes & Sock Hops” is a light tan/eggshell neutral crème.
I have never own or worn saddle shoes nor have I ever been to a sock hop. Guess I was born in the wrong generation. 😉
ROCK N’ ROLL & ROUTE 66
“Rock n’ Roll & Route 66” is a light robins egg blue crème with teeny green shimmers.
I Love Rock n’ Roll. All types! My brother is 13 years older than me so I started listening to hair bands when I was born. I also like the older rock that my dad listened to and actually still listens to. Now I am a hard rock lover and listen to all of the music on Octane. When I think of Route 66 my mind goes to the song. It has been done by several artists but I think my favorite version is by Chuck Berry or the Rolling Stones. But since I have kids, I am also familiar with the John Mayer version from the movie Cars.
Remember up above when I mentioned these cremes watermarble? Well let’s take a look. Below is a photo of the Glisten & Glow 1950s Nostalgia Collection in a petal watermarble. My pinky looks the best, but this was actually a test watermarble. I loved how it turned out so I did the rest of my hand. They all spread well in the water. The only one that gave me a bit a trouble was “Rock n’ Roll & Route 66” (blue) but I think it was because of the shimmer.
I also did a gradient using all 5 of the cremes.
I added stamping on top using Lina Nail Art Supplies Make Your Mark 04 plate.
And using Glisten & Glow’s Matte Top Coat I finished the look.
